Rob Allen railguns are one of the biggest names in spearfishing the world over. Robs product are internationally known for robust build quality and a no-nonsense design.

Rob Allens range of railguns made the railgun concept famous the world over proving a lightweight and maneuverable speargun could also have the speed and power to take even the largest game fish. With many tens of thousands around the world with countless world records and fish on dinner tables around the world the Rob Allen Railgun has cemented its self in the market as the smart spearfisherman’s choice.

Some key points of difference and advantage to the rob Allen range are:

  • Rob Allen railguns designed, ruthlessly tested and made 100% in the Rob Allen factory in Durbin South Africa. Many competitors source generic components out of China at bargain prices and assemble then to create products that look similar but don’t have the material or build quality of a Rob Allen railgun. The big benefit is that Rob can adjust and evolve as new technology or new information comes to light. Whereas others can only work with what they are given. Rob Allen has 100% control of his speargun manufacturing process.
  • Lifetime warranty! Rob Allen from day 1 has backed his products 100% regardless of age if the gun has an issue its dealt with quickly and painlessly. The benefit of this warranty over many others if that customers have a wide array of rob Allen dealers all over Australia and the globe so no matter where you are your never far from a helping hand no matter what you need from advice on fish, some help re-rigging or some infield repairs.
  • In house manufactured and tuned Spears. Spears are not all created equal and a spear that is robust, dead straight and strong is very hard to come by. The use of high-quality Carbon Spring steel and electroplating along with Rob Allen’s unique hand tuning process mean that every shaft is dead straight from the factory. Every single spear is individually checked by hand for straightness and consistency. When you have the fish of a lifetime in front of you, you need to know you have the best quality most accurate shaft possible in your gun.
  • Heavy duty smooth pull Vecta trigger mechanism. The latest generation Rob Allen Vecta is now load rated to 460kg, far more than any load you will ever put through your speargun. The mechanism is smooth and crisp. With Rob Allen consistently refining his designs you will be able to take advantage of the latest trigger technology in your favourite railgun.
  • All Rob Allen guns use his specifically engineered powerbands. The bulk rubber is manufactured in the USA to Robs exacting standard and has very high levels of consistency and life ensuring that your railgun shoots the same shot after shot.
  • Talk in depth on pultruded carbon barrels……………….

The range consists of:

Rob Allen Samburu Carbon railgun               RRP$640-$879 size dependent

The flag ship of the Rob Allen Australia range the Samburu is the distillation of decades of design and refinement. Using an inhouse manufactured pultruded Carbon barrel with integrated Carbon rail. this process increases the number of strands of carbon and the carbon to resin ratio increasing strength and rigidity compared to the cheaper more common wrapped barrels of competitors without penalizing weight. Each barrel is then hand painted and finished in clear for a unique paint camo on every barrel.

The Samburu then takes the 4th generation Vecta handle and the Rob Allen 3rd generation open muzzle and combines this all together with a hand tuned 7.5mm hardened spring steel shaft and 2x 16mm US latex Rob Allen powerbands.  The range of sizes ensures that no matter the species there is a Samburu Carbon perfect for the job.

Rob Allen Sparid EVO                         RRP$499

The Rob Allen Sparid is the mainstay of the Rob Allen range. For 2019 its been given a facelift and a significant performance boost!

The Sparid has always been the reference point in the market for a reliable everyday speargun that gets the job done with little fuss or fan fair. If you want fish in the icebox and not to worry about anything else this is the gun.

The Sparid has been the best-selling gun in Australia for well over a decade and for good reason. Many start with a Sparid and come to realize it’s the only gun they need.

The new 2019 Sparid Evo sets a new standard for mid-range spearguns.

Rob Allen Specialty Guns:

In Addition to core range of Rob Allen Spearguns. Rob Also is continuously developing new products and components and for AUP we are able to work with him on projects specific to our region. The great benefit of this is we can fine tune specifications on all the models to suit our customers’ needs in Australia

In 2019 we have the below specialty models that are designed to fill a void in the market and offer specific features over and above the core product range.

Rob Allen Rollergun:                          RRP$749

Rob Allen doesn’t do things by halves. O when he launches an all new component you know its going to be a market leader in build quality and technology. Well over 3 years of development with over 50 different prototype heads in the development cycle and we now have the Rob Allen rollergun.

The basic concept and design of rollerguns has been around for many decades but only the in the past couple of years has the design and technology matured into a product that has a gret deal of benefits over and above a traditional band gun.

The aim of a rollergun is 2 fold:

  1. To maximise the power stored for a given gun length
  2. To reduce recoil for increased accuracy.

Please see the section on Rollerguns for the why and how in detail.

The unique features that set the Rob Allen Rollergun apart from the others is:

  • Quad ceramic Bearings: they may not be cheap but ceramic on ceramic bearings are the best option for marine conditions, they do not corrode, they are so hard that salt and sand will be crushed by the bearings when they start rolling. Ceramic bearings have also recorded a 20% increase in efficiency over bushed roller heads.
  • Oversize and offset rollers. The larger roller and offset spindle make the loading cycle smoother and also reduce shaft whip during the shot. The larger rollers also mean that the use of heavier 18mm bands is no problems and the larger diameter means reduced friction and faster band speeds.
  • Recessed shooting line groove: a common issue with roller heads is that the shootingline get caught up in the rollers and bands. Buy designing a recess into the underside of the muzzle the shooting line is kept clear of the moving components.
  • Captive rollers: the edges of the roller are covered as is the front of the roller. This provents line from jamming up in the roller and protects the rubber under tension from abrasion and over shooting the muzzle.
  • Stainless full tension band anchors integrated into the handle fixings. This allows the benads to be loosened off during storage. Additionally also allows the diver to run full pretension bands or a long bridle to adjust pretension and power depeneding on target species.
  • The Rob Allen rollerguns also include a Load assist band which helps in the loading procedure and makes for an easier reload.
